… and the Aussies didn’t miss it!
20 -22 October 2017
After the great success of the first edition in 2015, the World Trophy of Pastry, Gelato and Chocolate was organized by the FIPGC (International Federation of Pastry, Ice Cream and Chocolate).
During these days Milan was the world’s largest bakery and the Australian Team competed for the very first time in this competition that is the most important international event in the pastry industry.
17 countries from around the world, 68 confectioners ready to challenge themselves with pastry cream, sugar and chocolate, three specialties to face (modern cake, chocolate pralines and single gelato serving), three artistic sculpture in chocolate, sugar and pastillage to test the skills, imagination and creativity of the teams that contended the title by realizing true and own art pieces.
The 2015 edition of The World Trophy of Pastry had seen the victory of Japan. Italy, which won a prestigious second place two years ago, this time conquered the title of World Champion 2017.
The Australian Team was conducted by Luigi Stivaletta, international judge and coach of the team, members Francesco Ferrante, Lucy Powell and Georgia Clisdell, also the youngest competitors in this edition (read more about the team here). The Aussies faced countries that in recent years have shown enormous vitality and creativity in the pastry art. The previous champion Japan, but also Italy, Thailand, Peru, Hong Kong, France, Greece, Albania, Bulgaria, China (2nd classified), Spain, Morocco, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Kyrgyzstan, United States, Romania and Bolivia.
Despite the young age and experience compared to some world known pastry celebrities, the Australian chefs defended well the name of the country in each category. Euroquip, as sponsors of the team, are proud they have given this opportunity to young talents and we cannot wait to welcome back Luigi, Frankie, Georgia and Lucy and listening to their stories regarding this unique experience.]
